Many of the articles that appear in the Trainees’ Forum address issues (many of which highlight difficulties in training schemes) which appear to paint a somewhat negative picture of the speciality. For this we make no apology. It is these issues which the Trainees’ Forum was established to air so that material improvements could be brought about. It is, nevertheless, refreshing when an article is submitted which highlights the continued attraction of the speciality to those who have yet to decide their final career direction. In this edition Wasim Mahmalji gives a personal account of his experience within the speciality and focuses on those aspects which have encouraged him down the urological path.
